The HPC4E researcher Rafael Mayo-García (CIEMAT) gave a talk at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), the USA oldest technological research university. The seminar, titled "Exascale Oriented Solutions and Their Application to the Exploitation of Energy Sources", deepened on the computational and mathematical solutions for the efficiency of the next exascale era. Mayo-García presented some examples of the application of these preliminary developments in the energy sector.

High Performance Computing (HPC) resources have become the key actor for achieving more ambitious challenges in many disciplines. In this step beyond, an explosion on the available parallelism and the use of special purpose processors are crucial, even more with the advent of the exascale era. With such a goal, the talk will provide a general vision of new exascale-oriented HPC techniques to energy industry simulations, customizing them if necessary, and going beyond the state-of-the-art in the required HPC exascale simulations for different energy sources. Also, some specific results will be described that could drive to potential collaborations.
