The HPC4E project took part in the first BRICS Working Group Meeting and Innovation Collaboration Forum on ICT and HPC held on Guangzhou University (China) from 22 to 26 April 2017. Researchers Jairo Panetta (ITA) and Philippe Navaux (UFRGS) attended the event. While prof. Navaux presented a talk titled "HPC4E Project: Applying Exascale HPC techniques to Energy Industry", prof. Panetta gave the talk "The Challenge of Production Mode HPC Applications in the Exaflop Era".
The event gathered mathematicians, physicists, engineers, economists, computational and data scientists from BRICS and aimed at exploring BRICS’ advantages in the field of artificial intelligence, big data technology, high-performance computing applications and network security, identifying areas of significant impact for BRICS innovation collaboration to address the global challenging issues such as industrial restructuring and upgrading, intelligent manufacturing, exploration of the universe, development of smart city and other areas, hence to achieve substantive outcomes in three to five years under BRICS STI Framework Programme.
