HPC4E researchers attended the 79th EAGE Conference & Exhibition 2017, held in Paris from 12 to 15 June 2017. This event is the largest and most comprehensive multi-disciplinary geoscience event in the world. It includes a large conference -in total over 1,000 technical oral and poster presentations- and a technical exhibition presenting the latest developments in geophysics, geology and reservoir/petroleum engineering.
The HPC for Energy project took part in two oral sessions and a workshop. The two oral presentations were:
- Session Computational Geosciences: Albert Farrés (Barcelona Supercomputing Center, BSC) contributed with the talk "Optimizing Fully Anisotropic Elastic Propagation on 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Phi Processors".
- Session Seismic Modelling - Acoustic I. Otilio Rojas (BSC) gave the talk "High-order Leapfrog and Rapid Expansion Time Integrations on Staggered Finite Difference Wave Simulations".
On the other hand, Samuel Rodríguez (BSC) took part in the Workshop 15: Programming on Modern HPC Architectures - Efficiency and Portability with the session about "Evaluating Directive-based Programming Models on Wave Propagation Kernels".

The event was a good opportunity to disseminate the HPC4E project.
This is not the first time the HPC4E project takes an active role in the conference. During the 2016 edition, the BSC -EU coordinator of the HPC4E project- contributed with a total of eight oral presentations, collaborated with the organization of a Dedicated Session on Exascale applications and attended the modelling workshop as invited speaker.
